WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Leggings, yoga pants, or active wear. If you wish to wear a class singlet, these are available to purchase in black or white at a cost of $32. Wearing a scarf around your hips is encouraged as it helps define the movements. Don’t own one yet? You can borrow one in class.

DO I NEED TO WEAR SHOES?

Most students dance barefoot but like wearing FootUndeez especially for turns, ballet shoes, jazz shoes.

DO I HAVE TO SHOW MY BELLY?

The choice is up to you! Showing your belly is not required to learn how to belly dance. Wear what makes you comfortable!

ARE THERE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS?

Yes! Many dance purely for fun, fitness and/or a sense of community while others can’t wait to show off their newly learned skills. The choice is yours if you want to perform at the end of year concert Moonlight at the Oasis, which would give you an opportunity to express what you have learned and invite your family and friends. We also have end of term dinners and dance nights giving the students and opportunity to perform solos or the class dance.

WHAT IF I’M PREGNANT?

If you are pregnant, bellydancing can be a great form of exercise to keep fit, build muscle strength, and prepare for birthing your baby. Please advise your teacher ahead of class to discuss special guidelines
and always consult your GP before participating in a new form of exercise during pregnancy.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS CLASS?

If you miss a class you can make it up at another location in the same term.

WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION?

Please get in touch with us to discuss how we can best manage your needs. Always make sure you seek your GP’s permission before starting any new form of exercise.

IS BELLYDANCING A GOOD WORKOUT?

Bellydancing is a great form of exercise. It can strengthen, tone, improve posture, flexibility, coordination and increase stamina, body awareness and sensuality. Bellydance is a balance for body,mind and soul.  It empowers and builds on self confidence.

WHAT IS A BELLY DANCE CLASS LIKE?

All of our classes are conducted in a fun environment. When you first join us, we take the time to break down and show you the basic steps and foundations. Our students are all passionate for this type of dance and many are now friends outside of class.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON AGE?

Our students range in age starting from 8 years old. Belly dance is suitable for all age groups.
